Overview

Bills Tracker ("the App," "we," "our") is a free personal finance application developed by Mark V. and published on the Google Play Store. The App is designed to help individuals track recurring bills, manage budgets, and monitor account balances entirely on their personal device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected. By installing and using Bills Tracker, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

The short version: Bills Tracker stores all your financial data locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal or financial information on external servers. No account is required. The App works fully offline.

Data We Collect

Bills Tracker does not collect personally identifiable information (PII). All data entered into the App — including bill names, amounts, due dates, account balances, budget limits, and transaction records — is:

  • Stored exclusively on your device using Android's local storage (localStorage via WebView)
  • Never transmitted to any external server, database, or third party
  • Never linked to your identity, Google account, or any other online service
  • Accessible only by you on your device

The App does not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, or any tracking technology that would identify you or your usage patterns.

Export feature: The App offers an optional JSON data export. This file is generated locally and saved to your device storage. It is never automatically uploaded anywhere. You control where you share or store this file.

Data Storage

All App data is stored using Android WebView's localStorage API on your device. This means:

  • Data persists between app sessions on your device
  • Data is removed when you use the in-app "Clear all data" feature in Settings
  • Data may be removed if you uninstall the App or clear app data through Android Settings
  • Data is not automatically backed up to Google Drive or any cloud service unless you have configured Android's Auto Backup and explicitly enabled it

Important: Because data is stored locally, uninstalling the App or clearing app data will permanently delete your financial records unless you have previously exported a backup using the Export feature in Settings.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any of your information with third parties. There are no advertising networks, analytics services, data brokers, or business partners who receive any data from this App.

The only scenario in which your data leaves your device is if you choose to use the Export feature and manually share the resulting file yourself (for example, via email or cloud storage). This action is entirely under your control.

  • No data is sold to advertisers or data brokers
  • No data is shared with analytics or tracking platforms
  • No data is sent to the developer's servers
  • No data is shared with Google except as described under Third-Party Services

App Permissions

Bills Tracker requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used solely for the feature described and for no other purpose:

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Required on Android 13 and above to send push notification reminders for upcoming and overdue bills. Notifications are generated entirely on-device and contain only the bill information you have entered. No notification data is sent to external services.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — Allows the App to reschedule bill reminder notifications after your device restarts. This permission is used only to restore notification scheduling; it does not collect or transmit any data.
  • INTERNET — Required to display the AdMob banner advertisement shown at the bottom of the screen. The App does not otherwise use internet access to transmit your financial data. See the Third-Party Services section for details on AdMob.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Used by the AdMob SDK to check network connectivity before loading ads. No personal data is accessed by this permission.

You can revoke notification permissions at any time by going to Android Settings → Apps → Bills Tracker → Notifications. Revoking this permission will stop bill reminder notifications but will not affect any other App functionality.

Third-Party Services

Bills Tracker uses the following third-party service:

Google AdMob
The App displays a banner advertisement powered by Google AdMob (Google LLC). AdMob may collect and process device information to serve contextually relevant ads. This may include your device's advertising ID, approximate location (if permitted), and general usage signals in accordance with Google's data practices.

AdMob's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, which you can review at: https://policies.google.com/privacy

You can opt out of interest-based advertising by adjusting your device's ad settings at: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (Android 12+) or Opt out of Ads Personalization (earlier Android versions).

⚠️

Bills Tracker itself does not pass any of your personal financial data to AdMob. AdMob operates independently and only receives standard device signals used for ad delivery.

No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or services are integrated into this App.

Children's Privacy

Bills Tracker is intended for users aged 13 and older. The App is a personal finance management tool designed for adults and young adults managing household or personal finances.

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through this App, please contact us using the details in Section 10 and we will take appropriate action.

Your Rights & Data Control

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete and direct control over your information at all times:

  • Access: All data you enter is visible within the App at all times
  • Export: Use Settings → Export data to download a full JSON backup of all your records
  • Delete: Use Settings → Clear all data to permanently delete all App data from your device
  • Uninstall: Uninstalling the App removes all stored data from your device
  • Notification control: Disable bill reminders via Android Settings → Apps → Bills Tracker → Notifications

No action is required on our part to fulfill any data deletion request, as we do not hold copies of your data on any server.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features, applicable laws, or best practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or the Google Play Store listing.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

The current version of this Privacy Policy is always available within the App under Settings → About and at the URL where this page is hosted.
